Creatine: Peak Performance & Power

Uncategorized No Comments

If you’ve been following my posts, you’ll know that I’ve been working on a new learning module entitled Creatine: Peak Performance and Power. I’m happy to announce that this program is live and ready for you to view on my Learn page at www.performance-edu.com. I had originally planned on creating this program with PowerPoint however, the huge file it would have created would have been a downloading nightmare. Instead, I opted to use Flash to create a more interactive and animated presentation.

To further minimize loading time I’ve decided to produce this lesson in two parts. I’ll leave Part I up for a few weeks before replacing it with the last half of the training. However, I did add an archive section at the bottom of the Learn page so that you can review past training modules any time you wish.

Creatine training in the works.

Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

If you visit my Learn page (www.performance-edu.com/learn) you will find a PowerPoint presentation entitled, The Basics of Weight Management. I converted this file to a .pdf so you could either scroll through the content online or print it for future use. At the bottom of the Learn page you’ll notice that the upcoming training session is entitled, Creatine: Peak Performance and Power. I am currently getting the final touches on this presentation.

I decided to use Flash for a more interactive training session. I’m not going all out on animations so I can produce this program a little faster. However, it is turning out to be an interesting and engaging training tool. In order to keep the file size at a reasonable size, I may break this program into two sections. I’ll make that call when I get closer to completion.

I’m hoping to have this dynamic program available for you to view by this weekend (December 29 or 30). Once you view the program, I would greatly value any feedback you would like to offer. You can contact me on my Contact page at www.performance-edu.com/contact.

New glossary terms

Site Updates No Comments

While waiting for in-laws to arrive for the holidays, I passed some time adding a few new glossary terms to www.performance-edu.com. The latest additions are cordyceps sinesis, citrus aurantium (also known as “bitter orange”), amenorrhea, amylopectin, and albumin. Keep checking back often for new glossary terms. My goal is to have one of the most extensive list of terms in the industry. I want you to be able to find answers to your common questions without having to leave my site.

If you have any suggestions for glossary terms you would like to see, send me a note from my Contact PES page.

The truth about meal replacements

Supplements No Comments

After I entered the supplement industry and had some time under my belt as an educator, I came to the understanding that nutrition is everything. When I was a bodybuilder, I tended to focus more on the advanced supplement side of the equation.  Of course, eating was important, but I was under the impression that the advanced supplements were the key to my success.

Once I really appreciated the value of proper nutrient selection and timing, things changed. Proper nutrient timing involves the consumption of small, high quality meals every 2 - 3 hours. This helps to maintain a flow of key nutrients throughout the body. In addition, frequent feedings (with the right nutrients) helps to boost the metabolism!

The problem is food availability for such a nutritional regimen. In other words, most of us are extremely busy and have a hard time stopping for a meal. This is where meal replacement products come in handy. These days, you don’t even need a blender to enjoy a healthy shake. Since the entry of ready-to-drink shakes on the market, on-the-go, body-fueling meals are easy to attain.

Now I’m not suggesting that you replace all of your meals with a meal shake. That has implications I’ll cover later. Instead, I’m suggesting that you have a quality meal shake handy for the times that you would normally skip or skimp on a meal. For many people this is breakfast or mid-day at work. This keeps you on nutritional track and helps you to avoid binging on junk foods because there is nothing else to eat.

I became such a believer in meal shakes that I used to tell my classes that if I could be provided one supplement of choice for life it would be an MRP (meal replacement powder). Of course, there are good products, and low grade ones. When selecting the appropriate meal supplement for your goals, you definitely want to make the right choice.  I’ll cover how to select the right meal supplement in upcoming blogs.

It’s no secret

Performance Nutrition No Comments

I’ll write a lot about the subject of performance nutrition in upcoming blogs. For now, I’ll just say that performance nutrition is not rocket science. Of course, it does take a little know-how in order to select the right foods, in the right amounts, at the right times. However, it’s not difficult. The hardest thing about performance nutrition is will power. In other words, is your desire to become leaner, stronger, or more fit stronger than your desire to have a couple of jelly donuts? And again, is your desire to remain at peak energy levels more important than hitting the snooze button a few times so that you’re so late to work that you skip breakfast?

I learned early on that a solid nutritional regimen is the key to getting and staying in shape. That’s a no-brainer, right? Well if it is so simple, than why is performance nutrition such a hot topic? For some reason, in spite of the wealth of information and government educational campaigns, nutrition is still a point of confusion. Not to mention the epidemic of obesity.

Although I’m a big fan of quality nutritional supplements, I think that they are often used as an “excuse” for not managing one’s daily nutrition. Supplements are wonderful tools for helping us stay on nutritional track or for providing that extra boost to push past fitness plateaus. However, it’s the whole foods that you consume that have the greatest impact on your performance and level of fitness. The best advice I can give you is to eat right and eat often. Of course, there is a lot of details that need to be addressed in that statement in order to get it right. That’s where Performance Education Systems comes in. Keep checking back to this blog and my main site www.performance-edu.com for updated information.

What can you find at www.performance-edu.com?

If you haven’t visited my site, www.performance-edu.com, you are missing out on some of the most engaging information and education available regarding performance nutrition and supplementation. From my years of industry training, I’ve amassed a large vault of resources that I would like to share with you. Following is a brief overview of each of the distinct pages on my site.

PES Home Page - Quite obviously, this is my home page. However, it does over a snapshot of the primary information and resources located throughout the site. From my home page, you can test an interactive FAQ, get a feel for a couple Glossary terms, link directly to Audio Interviews and Tip Sheets, and much more.

About PES - This page reveals the history and future of Performance Education Systems and why I founded the company. This page also contains a few pics of me facilitating at different events around the globe.

Learn - This page offers free training resources to view and enjoy. Most often, the training will be offered in a .pdf version of a PowerPoint presentation. These files are usually pretty large (around 2 - 5 M) so give them a few moments to load if you choose to view them.

Articles - Just as the name implies, this page offers full length articles and short summaries of nutrients and industry related updates.

FAQS - This is my absolute favorite page. I am going for a new twist on the traditional frequently-asked-question format. Instead of clicking on a question and reading the answer, I have an interactive Flash presentation that visually explains each topic. Because it takes a little time to draw up and animate these, I won’t have new ones up as quickly as I will Glossary terms. However, I already have over 20 of them already.

Glossary - No site is complete without a list of glossary terms. I’ll do my best to keep adding on to this growing library each week. My goal is to have the largest and most complete list in the industry.

Downloads - If you like free stuff….but quality stuff…here’s the place to get it. Of course I won’t give away the farm because I do have some interactive products for sale however, I will offer you premium freebies. On this page you’ll find tip sheets that you can either view on line or print them off for your ongoing reference. The Downloads page also contains audio interviews with industry professionals and audio training sessions. This library will grow quickly so take advantage of it.

Products- If you would like to have access to the same training resources that I deliver to audiences and athletes around the globe, here’s your chance. I use a unique style of training that is full of analogies, simplified explanations, and engaging animations. I packaged this style into interactive training programs built with Flash for maximum user interface and entertainment. Through my years of training, I’ve learned that pictures do speak a thousand words. However, if pictures speak a thousand words than animations must speak a million (at least). These programs are currently being used by top level trainers and training facilities.

I hope that you’ll consider taking a tour of my site www.performance-edu.com.

Thank you!

Welcome to Performance Education Systems!

Performance Nutrition, Site Updates, Supplements No Comments

Hello, and thank you for visiting my blog page. I’m Brian Deeds, founder of Performance Education Systems. This blog site allows me to further express the educational tools and resources I have on my website, www.performance-edu.com. I’ve been in the supplement industry for over eight years now. Most of that time was spent as the Corporate Training Manager for EAS. I was the guy who wrote and delivered most of the training and around the globe, wrote blogs for www.bodyforlife.com, developed contents for eas.com, and co-managed the EAS Call Center.

Eventually, I arrived at the difficult but so far, rewarding decision to start my own educational company and consulting firm. I wanted to develop the tools and resources that I just couldn’t focus on as a regular employee. Enter Performance Education Systems. Although I’m an active consultant in the industry, my greatest endeavor is to continue to build tools, training, and resources for my own site. From my years of training, I’ve gained a wide range of knowledge and have developed a massive library of resources. These tools were often reserved for “insider” education and distributor training. Because I am an independent writer, I can make the same sort of resources available to you. Now you can “become the expert”!

Because I am still an active training developer in the industry, I have a lot of contacts and resources that I can use to answer questions you may have. If you have questions that I cannot answer, I won’t fabricate one just to appease you; I’ll use my professional resources to help resolve your inquiry.

Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you.
